The excursions are probably the most popular activity organised by the Society.   They range from evening meetings in or close to Edinburgh, to half or whole day walks at the weekend, and weekends or longer periods away.  Although many excursions are devoted mainly to one particular branch of natural history, members with general interests are always welcome.  The excursions are particularly valuable for beginners, as an opportunity to get "hands on" experience of finding and identifying wildlife in the field, and in particular to benefit from the help offered by any experts who may be attending the walk.
